Academy of the Americas

Academy of the Americas K-12 is a Spanish dual language immersion school. Located in Southwest Detroit, they provide a rich cultural and academic experience for students. With over 20 years of experience delivering immersion instruction, they also provide music, art, media arts, as well as a variety of extracurriculars ranging from archery to robotics to athletics offerings.

I spent the Fall 2022 semester student teaching with Ms. Kendra Lincourt, an AMAZING mentor teacher who was able to share with me her incredible teaching style, unique projects, and impressive classroom management! I learned so much about how to manage over 300 students while meeting individual needs, challenging and engaging student performance, and forging meaningful connections. Wouldn’t trade this experience for the world!!!
